2019 Hanzell Cabernet Sauvignon

Price: $125.00

Summary

Lovely aromas of dark cherry, blackberry, cassis, cherry tobacco, cedar, cardamom, anise and bay laurel emerge from the glass. The palate, expansive and balanced, mirrors the aromas with flavors of wild blueberry, blood orange curd, graphite, thyme and pink peppercorn. Lifted fruit and complex earthy flavors carry on a long, intriguing finish. While delicious to drink now, this wine will cellar beautifully for decades to come if you have patience!

95 points | Wine Enthusiast | Editor's Choice

A rare bird from the esteemed Pinot and Chardonnay producer, this wine harks back to simpler times in its total display of elegance and restraint. Earthy compost layers a supple palate of high-toned acidity and ethereal layers of currant and cassis, blended with 7% Cabernet Franc, 7% Malbec and 3% Petit Verdot. — Virginie Boone

95 points | Vinous

The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon is a quintessential wine from this property. Firm and classically built, the 2019 exudes mountain energy. Dark cherry, plum, grilled herbs, bay leaf, incense, licorice, and tobacco all race across the palate. I would give this muscular Cabernet Sauvignon at least a few years to soften. It’s pretty impressive in the early going.— Antonio Galloni

92 points | James Suckling
A fresh and balanced 2019 cabernet with currant, crushed-stone and citrus undertones. It’s medium-bodied with fine tannins and a crisp finish. Rather sleek. 83% cabernet sauvignon, 7% cabernet franc, 7% malbec and 3% petit verdot. Drinkable now, but better in a year or two.— JS
