2020 Hanzell Farm, The Sessions Selection Pinot Noir, 100% Whole Cluster

As a contrast to the destemmed bottling, this wine was fermented 100% whole cluster in stainless-steel and aged for ten months in 1/3 new French oak barrel. Beautiful fruit notes of red cherry, pomegranate and cranberry intermingle with red radish, forest floor and celery salt on the nose. The palate shows those bright red fruits along with citrus notes of pink grapefruit and blood orange. Intriguing and long, the finish carries on and on with a beautiful combination of red fruit and earthy notes.

Aromas of red cherries, gravel, ripe strawberries and white chocolate. Medium-to full-bodied with fine, tight tannins. Tart berries and savory undertones. Wild berries and white smoke. Complex and intriguing. Firm. Give this a bit of time. Best after 2024.

Light-bodied but persistent, this is built on slightly firm acidity and toothy savory details, which let a core of tea, blood orange and sous-bois notes linger gracefully through the lengthy finish.
